Reports of children being subjected to cruelty in Gloucester have shot up by more than 350 per cent in the last year.
New figures show there were 38 cases of child cruelty recorded by Gloucestershire police in the city district in the 12 months running up to June 2016.
It is nearly five times, or 375 per cent as many as the eight cases recorded in the area the year before.
