Dispose of packaging from new Christmas gifts at recycling centres rather than outside your own home, police have urged.
They fear that thieves will eye up the packaging before raiding your house for the items.
PC Fayre Jones, community officer for Quedgeley and Hardwicke, said: "Thieves are still around and may be looking for signs of gifts so we ask that you do not advertise the fact that you now have them in your homes."
