A MAN has been fined for illegally importing elephant ivory into New Zealand.The case against Jiezhen Jiang came about after raids at two homes, including one in Cheltenham.Police raided a house in Duke Street, Fairview, in November 2011, and seized elephant tusks believed to be worth thousands of pounds on the black market.Jiang, 58, from Auckland, has now been fined $12,000.He is the first person to be convicted for illegally importing ivory into New Zealand.He pleaded guilty in April to eight...
